This Tuesday, 6th, the matches of the FISU World University Championship Beach Volleyball began, at Pajuçara beach, in Maceió. There were 32 matches for women and 16 for men, in the qualifying phase of the competition. Shana Zobristi and Anna Lutz compete for Switzerland and even with a rainy first day they say they are loving the climate of the host city: “It’s ok for us, we are used to the rain, it doesn’t matter, as long as it’s hot it’s perfect”, said Zobristi. She also adds that in Switzerland they have no sea, so “it’s perfect to play in front of the sea”.
“It’s very nice because I think it’s very cool that everything is organized and we just have to come and play, so we don’t have to think for something different, I really like it”, said Zobristi.
In the female category, the duos Monkhouse/McBain, from Canada, Álvarez M/Moreno, from Spain, Anderson/Denaburg, from the United States, Grüne/Christ, from Germany, Gonzalez/Navas, from Puerto Rico, Zobrist/Lutz, from Switzerland and Bettenay/Fleming, end the day as leaders of their respective groups and without losing a game.
In men’s, at the end of the first round the group leaders are: Padilla/C. Lobo from Costa Rica, Sosaya/Gauto from Argentina, Semerad/Sepka from the Czech Republic, Florczyk/Miszczuk from Poland, Pedrosa/Campos from Portugal, Rodriguez/Walmer from the United States, Reñé/Huerta, A., from Spain, and Maia, G./Leite, from Portugal.
